Oddball Wins Prime Contract with Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center (AFIMSC)

Oddball expands services to the Air Force by providing mobile application development for military Child Development Centers

PRESS RELEASE

UPDATED: September 14, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 14, 2020 – Oddball Inc., a technology solutions firm dedicated to digital modernization of federal services, has been awarded a prime contract with the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center (AFIMSC). The 1-year contract will lead the development of ‘Kinderspot,’ a mobile application for military and government employee families who are enrolled in military Child Development Centers (CDCs).

Kinderspot will function similarly to popular sharing economy companies like AirBnB and GetAround by empowering families to sublease their child’s spot to other eligible families with short-term daycare needs. These otherwise unused child care spots can thus be utilized by families on both sides of the transaction, offering a simple solution for a critical family readiness problem, one that has only been made more challenging for Airmen by COVID-19.

“We are extremely excited to continue supporting the Air Force through Kinderspot. With an intuitive and convenient mobile subletting solution, we believe we can positively impact military family resiliency and the retention of Airmen through improved childcare options,” said Travis Sorensen, Oddball Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer.

This is Oddball’s first prime contract with the Air Force and builds on ongoing past performance with BESPIN. For the Kinderspot proposal, Oddball formed a team with ChipStudio in partnership with Air Force CyberWorx, a public/private design studio based at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

“On a personal level, this project is particularly meaningful because I get to play a role in solving problems that didn’t have solutions when I was serving in the Air Force,” said Oddball Program Manager and former Air Force Officer Dale Nelson, who will be leading the Oddball team.“As a mission-driven organization, the Oddball team is motivated and inspired to bring effective digital services to Air Force families and their community.”
